The Speaker Workout

A 4-Week Virtual Improv Intensive

January 22nd - FEBRUAry 12th

Are you ready to be a speaker who positively transforms lives?

Someone with magnetic stage and screen presence?

Do you crave the confidence and skills to unapologetically speak up for yourself (and the ideas and issues that matter most to you) in presentations, interviews, and high-stakes conversations?

If you answered YES to one or more of the questions above, let’s buff up your speaking muscles together in The Speaker Workout.

Whether you are a coach, consultant, or service-based business owner eager to use virtual and live speaking to start or scale a thriving, impactful business.

Or, you are an established online entrepreneur or corporate leader who is ready to go pro with your speaking to expand your influence and advance your thought leadership.

My hunch is that you may feel confused, or even be downright paralyzed, by thoughts like:

  • I’m too new to my business (or junior in my industry) to be speaking.
  • So many people already talk about my subject matter, what could I possibly contribute?
  • I lack the confidence (or follow-through) to put myself out there to speak.
  • What events and groups would book a speaker like me?
  • I should probably just grow my email list, create an online course, and Marie Kondo my sock drawer before I make speaking a priority.

Does any of the above sound familiar?

I want you to know...

You don’t wait UNTIL you feel brave to start speaking. You cultivate bravery through the process of buffing up your speaking muscles.

Imagine if you possessed the confidence to…

  • Book prestigious speaking gigs and corporate consulting opportunities
  • Leverage your speaking platform to book high-profile media segments
  • Become a go-to thought leader in your industry
  • Use speaking to sell-out your coaching and training programs
  • Create a waiting list of dream private and corporate clients who are ready to work with you

This would be pretty fab, right?

For over a decade, I’ve shown thousands of coaches, consultants, and experts how to “step into their moxie” so that they can use speaking to advance their careers, businesses, and make heaps of positive impact for their audiences and clients.

Let me show you how in The Speaker Workout.

In my four-week, super hands-on, virtual speaking intensive, you’ll be up on your feet and engaging in fun and effective improv exercises that empower you to find your authentic speaking voice and style.

By the end of our month together, you will be able to:

  • See (and really be seen) by a live or virtual audience
  • Present your ideas with clarity, commitment, and charisma
  • Fill a room with your presence
  • Harness your natural speaking style to move people to take action on your ideas
  • Use your emotions to connect vulnerably with an audience
  • Access your full voice and strengthen your vocal variety
  • Recognize your speaker’s intuition—and recover from “performance hiccups” with ease and grace
  • Tell powerful stories to inspire, shift mindset and behavior, and facilitate transformation
  • Respond authentically to an audience’s ideas, energy, and feedback
  • Use humor to elicit laughter and catalyze aha moments
  • Banish the fear of failure—once and for all!

The Speaker Workout Schedule

(Each Wednesday we will gather on Zoom from 9:00 am - 10:00 am pacific.)

Every week, during our LIVE, virtual video sessions, you will develop the speaking muscles that allow you to speak with confidence, clarity, and call people to take action on your ideas.

You will dive into individual, small group, and full group improv activities that catalyze massive shifts in your identity as a speaker and in your speaking performance.

And you will leave the intensive with the confidence to book more virtual and live speaking engagements so you can bring your full self to the gigs and interviews you book!

JANUARY 22, 2025

Week 1: Presence and Power

Speaking presence is a mindset and a set of behaviors. And during our inaugural week, you will develop them. You’ll get comfortable (through occasionally being a little uncomfortable) as you practice taking up space with your voice and your body, speak unapologetically, and make big (dreamy!) asks for yourself and of your audiences.

JANUARY 29, 2025

Week 2: Point of View

Whether you are looking to bring more of your personality into your speaking and/or you want to speak about social justice issues in your business but you’re not quite sure how to do it, during our second session you’ll demystify your “secret sauce” and explore how to infuse your communication with it. Practice speaking to delight, to disrupt, and to deliver your unique, necessary insights.

Week 3: Humor

In our third session, discover proven structures for injecting humor into presentations and training. From how to start strong with a comedic bit to how to use self-deprecation to connect with your people without diminishing yourself, you’ll practice using narrative and physical comedy without ever feeling like you are forcing yourself to be funny.

FEBRUARY 12, 2025

Week 4: Storytelling

In our final improv session, practice telling stories that foster credibility, likeability, and trust and create aha moments for clients and audiences. Explore, on your feet, how stories move people to take action and identify compelling, go-to stories to use in your speaking, coaching, and training.

Because this is experiential, improv-based speaker training, you will want to attend each session live. However, if you have to miss a session, there will be a video recording available to review prior to the next session.

About Your Host, Alexia Vernon

Branded a “Moxie Maven” by President Obama’s White House Office of Public Engagement for my unique and effective approach to women’s empowerment, I am a highly-regarded public speaking and business coach, author of the book, Step into Your Moxie, and founder of the renowned Step into Your Moxie® speaking and communication development platform.

For over a decade, I have excelled at showing entrepreneurs, business leaders, media personalities, and change makers how to use speaking and live events to spread their big ideas, positively impact people’s lives, grow their businesses, and advance their thought leadership.

Through my online training, live events, The Spotlight Speaker Accelerator coaching program, and my premier masterminds, I have supported thousands of speakers to get comfortable with visibility, create game-changing speaking content, and win lucrative, high-profile speaking opportunities.

I have also delivered my own transformational keynotes and corporate training for numerous Fortune 500 companies, professional associations, and industry events. I’ve spoken at the United Nations during the Commission on the Status of Women, and I am a TEDxWomen speaker.

My public speaking career began, rather unexpectedly, at age 19 when I won the Miss Junior America competition. I used my new platform to launch a nonprofit girls' leadership organization in my community, and I spent the rest of my college years speaking in front of audiences and teaching a generation of young women just behind me how to own their voices and speak with moxie.

I DON’T, however, want to suggest I was an overnight success. It took me almost a decade to figure out the business of speaking – how to consistently book quality speaking gigs, earn my worth, and translate my speaking into business revenue and opportunities.

What I now know is that while there were some things I didn’t know how to do as a speaker and entrepreneur, what I really lacked was confidence in my voice, my message, and my speaking style.

Alexia, your virtual improv workshop was AMAZING!

I've always been intrigued by improv and, as a corporate leader, I’ve used "business improv" exercises in many of my meetings and training for staff. However, in 2019, I trained to become a life and leadership coach. Working online and primarily 1:1, I hadn't given improv much thought again until… your workshop.

It helped me see HOW this all comes together for me as a leadership coach! Your debriefs after each exercise really helped us capture insights and takeaways. The arc of exercises was perfectly designed to take us on a journey. And I am sooooo looking forward to learning more (from you) and building improv into my practice!
